Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs

I'm a paranormal reader. So it was a big jump to read this book when I was
loaned it. I even went to bed early one night to avoid reading it.I've now
finished the book, and was glad I forced myself to start it. I could not put the
book down. I think you should buy the hardback, as the pictures are amazing. I
didn't feel I connected to the characters much, but the whole book was seriously
leaking oddness. And it really interested me.Buy the book. You won't regret
it!
And I mean the BOOK! not the EBOOK!
I want to write what I liked and disliked about the book, but it'll have spoilers. And I want other people to feel the annoyance I felt throughout the book when having to wait to find something out!

My Soul to Take - Rachel Vincent

I read a few reviews on this book on amazon. And decided to not pay full price for this book, until Kindle did a daily deal so I got it for £1 something or other!I am glad I bought it. I really enjoyed this book. I love paranormal, and this is a type of paranormal I haven't come across. Banshees.. who writes about them?! I haven't read any books on them. I thought the story line was amazing! Obviously hoping Tod and Kayley get it on in future books!

The Wrong Path by Vivian Marie Aubin du Paris

I downloaded a sample of this book, and was royally disapointed with it. Yet throughout the day I found myself thinking about the character "Will" and how Annebelle, would go about dating "Travis" and then suddenly find herself in love with "Will" his brother... So I bought the book. An enjoyed it. I did think Annebelle was unbelieveable most of the time. How can someone be so unaware of what her friends were really like.
Very odd book!
I'd rate this book 4/10 (harsh.. I know!)
Would I recommend... No.

The hunger games - Suzanne Collins

I was recommended this book by a friend, and it was beyond shocking. The story is written in a way that it's claws dig in to you from the start, and each character is so real and well described that you fall in love or hate them.
Katniss is an amazing, I loved her strength to keep going even when times were extremely tough for her. Dealing with the loss of her father, her mother sinking in to depression, and a little sister to take care off. No food or money, and still she worked hard to keep going.
Peeta had my support one minute, then my knife in his gut the next. It was so wonderfully written that I had no idea what Peeta was up too. Weather he was full of trickery, or full of crazy love.
This book had me in tears at one point when a character is killed. I was in love with this book from the first page. I ended up getting out of a bath of cold water... as time had flown when reading this book.
Hunger games is about several districts. Each send two people, One girl, one boy, aged between 12 - 18 years. To go to an arena to fight to the death. Only one may leave. Katniss's sister Prim was called first, to which Katniss volunteers instead.
Peeta is called for the boy, no one takes his place.
Peeta and Katniss play the part of star crossed lovers, and Katniss has to figure out what his game is, if it is indeed a game. As well as trying not to get killed when the 24 people are dropped in to an area to fight to the death. There is a lot of bravery shown, and stupidity. Brutes are of course in this book, brutes you want to whack in the face yourself.
Only one gets to survive.
Don't really want to give much more away, other than make sure you have tissues when a character dies. x

I give this book 11/10 yes better than full marks!
I'd recommend this book to Roxy!
I'd read it again for sure!

Heart on a chain - Cindy C. Bennett

Another book that's not Paranormal or Sci Fi! I know Oddness overcomes me!

Anyhow. This book contains abuse, and I really do have to say in another review that abuse is something so difficult to write about. And that it's very hard to get it right and be tasteful about it... If abuse can be tasteful!?!

Kate is the main character, she is 17 years old. And she lives with a drunk Dad, whose never around. And a mum that has a terrible past and is on medication. When she can be bothered taking it, it seems.

The book flashes back to when Kate was young, and where she has her first kiss. With a boy named Henry, however Henry moves away and never heard of again.
Kate then grows up with abuse from home, and being bullied at school. It's quite horrible. If you were one of the poor souls like me that were bullied at school, then this book may remind you of those horrible times.

I enjoyed this book, until the part where the reason behind where the abuse started came up. I didn't agree with this, and I disliked the book a lot after that.

I think the subject is taboo already without this sort of attitude towards it. But thats my opinion.

The characters didn't seem very believeable. I thought Henry and his whole family were just too nice. But if I ignore the sore subject I enjoyed the book.

I'd give this 6/10
I wouldnt recommend this book to Roxy!
I wouldn't read it again.
